I encourage the City Council to reconsider Livermore's policy regarding short-term rentals, particularly non-owner-occupied investment properties. Residential neighborhoods are intended to provide stability, safety, and a sense of community. Unlike long-term residents, short-term guests have little connection to the neighborhood, resulting in frequent turnover and reduced accountability. Since a short-term rental began operating next to my home, we have already observed increased street parking, including six vehicles parked on our street in addition to those in the driveway on one occasion. This directly impacts neighboring residents. Many surrounding Bay Area communities have adopted stricter regulations or require short-term rentals to be owner-occupied to better preserve neighborhood character. I respectfully ask the Council to evaluate whether Livermore's current ordinance adequately protects residents and to consider stronger safeguards for our neighborhoods.
